today I will write a biography about my idol, you know who? My idol is Shawn Mendes. Like the photo above, it is Shawn. So the reason I idolize him is because he is humble, kind, and cool 😁.

Shawn Peter Raul Mendes (born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, August 8, 1998, age 19 years) is a Canadian singer-songwriter. She started her career in 2013, when she started posting covers of songs on the video sharing app Vine. The following year, he caught the attention of artist manager Andrew Gertler and A&R Island Records Ziggy Chareton, who asked him to sign a contract with a record label. He then released an EP and his debut studio album Handwritten, with the single "Stitches" reaching the top ten in America and Canada, and number one in the UK.

Mendes was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and raised in Pickering, a city in the suburbs. He is the son of Karen, a real estate agent, and Manuel Mendes, a businessman. His father is Portuguese (from the Algarve), while his mother is English. He attended Pine Ridge Secondary School in Pickering, Ontario.

He posted a cover video of his first song on Vine in 2013 and gained millions of views and followers in just a few months, and rose to prominence for its six-second video covering songs of several famous songs. Artist manager Andrew Gertler found Mendes online in November 2013, and invited him to a visit. Island Records in January 2014. He was officially signed in May 2014 and released his first single "Life of the Party" on June 26, 2014. [3] He is the youngest artist to have a top 25 song debut on the Billboard Hot 100, coming in at number 24 on the weekend of July 12, 2014 at the age of 15.

Prior to his contract with Island Records, Mendes toured as a member of the MagCon Tour alongside other young artists with a large social media following. Mendes also toured nationally with Austin Mahone as opening act and released the label's debut EP in July. The EP debuted and peaked at number 5 on the Billboard 200; sold 48,000 in its first week. He won the 2014 Teen Choice Awards for Webstar in Music. On 6 November 2014 "Something Big" was released as the second single.

On April 14, 2015, Mendes released his first full-length album, Handwritten, which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, selling 116,000 copies in its first week. The album's third single, "Stitches", peaked at number four on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming her first single to hit the top 10 in America, and later becoming her first number one single on the Mainstream Top 40 chart. Mendes recorded a song called "" Believe "for Disney Channel Original Movie Descendants. He also opened for Taylor Swift's 1989 concert in North America. In November 2015 Mendes and Camila Cabello, who at that time were members of Fifth Harmony released their collaboration single, "I Know What You Did Last Summer". Mendes appeared in the third season of the TV series The 100 on The CW, premiering on January 21, 2016. In January 2016, "Stitches" reached number one in the UK after 17 weeks on the chart. Only one song has lasted longer: Ed Sheeran's "Thinking Out Loud," which peaked after 19 weeks in 2014. Mendes then announced his second headlining world tour, which will visit North America and Europe, starting in March 2016. In January 2016, Mendes signed a contract with a modeling agency, Wilhelmina Models. Mendes was on TIME's list of The 25 Most Influential Teens in 2014, and 2015. He also made his first Forbes appearance on their annual "30 Under 30" list, in 2016.
